Signs, Surprises, and Spain

Several weeks ago I recieved an e-mail from my curriculum director asking if I had any graduate hours in English. I told her I did not, and that was that. Last week she appeared at my classroom door asking if I had any grad hours in English because the dual credit teacher was leaving and they were looking for a long term replacement. I told her I was considering going back to finish my Masters. The dual-credit assignment is a pretty sweet gig. Teachers are hired and paid through both the school district and college concurrently. Plus, I've always wanted to teach at the college level (now that I've settled comfortably into the world of high school sophomores!) So I am looking for ways to complete the last 18 hours of English I need to this deal up. Most online options are out of state which means more $$. It looks like I need to be looking at UTA or as a last resort go back to commuting to UNT. Unfortunately most deadlines have passed so the process will be delayed. BOO!

Last week my brother surprised us and came into town for my mom's birthday. It's always a pleasure to see him and my mother was definitely shocked to see him. We surprised her with a dinner at Hattie's Weds night and then we spent the weekend at my parents house cooking and eating.

While in town, Will and I discussed taking a trip to Spain this summer. While I wasn't his first choice in travel companions, turns out that I am the only person that has a passport and available in July. I've been itching to travel abroad and Spain is definitely near the top of my list. My high school profe. de Espanol turned me on to it and I've heard from many of my well-traveled friends that Spain is surprisingly one of the most beautiful destinations in Europe. I want to visit El Prado to see all those paintings I studied in high school and of course, test out some of the proper Spanish I spent so many years learning but have not used much. I am hoping this plan will come to fruition and work out if I am hired to teach summer school.
